My name is Arlene Zimmerly, and I am a coauthor of Gregg College Keyboarding and Document Processing, 10e, the most popular post-secondary keyboarding textbook in the country. For author bios, please visit the Online Learning Center, and click About the Authors.

This is a model Web site for a full-semester, 3-unit Keyboarding Online course where you can see how a beginning keyboarding course might be presented. Browse around and feel free to use any information you find helpful. The pages have been written as if I were speaking to students in my own class. I retired from Los Angeles City College (LACC), and this is the Web site I used when I taught beginning keyboarding there.

In a beginning keyboarding course, students learn to type by touch, continue to increase speed and accuracy, and learn to format documents (e-mails, letters, memos, reports, and tables) using Word. Because they learn to type and to use the basic features of Word, students are getting the benefit of two classes combined into one. They can work at home on their own PC or Mac computer or use a networked computer in a campus classroom or lab.

For more information, click the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and Course Outline button at the top of this page. To get started in the course, do this:
