Ruled Table
15 minutes

The goal on any practice test is to have zero scoring errors and zero formatting errors on the first created, scored attempt within the time limit just as you will be required to do when you come on campus for your actual test. If you edit the document instead of recreating it, I will not even look at that attempt, so don’t waste your valuable time editing. I only grade the first scored attempt. In other words, YOU MAY NOT EDIT A PRACTICE TEST! If you exit and find you had any errors, click Create . . . (not Edit . . .) and try it again. You may try to recreate a practice test as many times as you want to and you should. This is how you prepare yourself for a test in which you get one attempt only.Goal: Zero scoring errors and zero formatting errors on the first attempt in 15 minutes maximum.

This document has been designated as a practice test because it is very similar to the actual document processing test you will take when you come on campus this week or next week.

To remove all borders and then apply a top border (or a border of your choice), first select the table. To select a table, hold your mouse over the table to make the table move handle appears in the top left corner of the table, then click the table move handle. Or drag over the entire table. Or from the menu, click Table, Select Table.

To remove table borders, with the table selected, from the Formatting toolbar, click the down arrow next to the borders button, then click the No Border button to remove all borders. Hold your mouse over each button to read the button name.
To add a border to the top of the table only: table borders, with the table selected, from the Formatting toolbar, click the down arrow next to the borders button, then click the Top Border button to apply a border. Select any of the other buttons as needed to apply any other desired borders. For example, the All Borders button would apply borders throughout the table for a boxed table.
bulletClick the Create Table 39-12 button and type this document correcting all typos and formatting errors.
bulletNote: Please go to p. 113, 39H, step 4, for an explanation of spacing with column entries that include a dollar sign and spaces.
bulletIf you exit and find you had any errors, click Create . . . (not Edit . . .) and try it again.
bulletAfter you exit and score your document with zero errors, click Portfolio.
bulletIn the Student Portfolio window, click the desired lesson and exercise, and click the View Text button.
bulletIn the report header, look at Time in MS Word to see how much time you spent working on the exercise. The elapsed time begins when you click the Create or Edit button and ends when you click GDP, Return to GDP.

Note: Remember—when you come in for testing this week or next week, you will have only one attempt on any document and it must be perfect—no typos and no formatting errors and it must be completed within the time limit.

If you have not already done so, remember to make an appointment to come in this week to take the Unit 8 Test. Bring your books with you. It is your responsibility to send me an e-mail after you take your test so that I can grade it and send you the test results.

Unit 8 Test
Table With Number Columns
15 minutes

Never take an actual document processing test on campus until you have successfully completed the practice document processing tests! You will not be successful.
bulletYou will need to schedule a testing appointment with an Instructional Assistant. Click here for steps to schedule your on-campus test. I do not have to be there. Send me an email message to confirm a time and date for the test.
bulletYou get only one chance at passing this test, so you want to be prepared. Bring your books with you.
bulletYou must take your test this week or next week. If you haven't taken this test by the end of next week, an automatic 10% late penalty will be taken. For example, if you earned an A+ but the test was late, your grade would be lowered automatically to a B+.
bulletIf haven't evaluated your technique yet, you must email me immediately. Remember that your technique must be acceptable in order to pass the class.
